In Prayers for the Convalescence of Louis XV, respected French Baroque specialist Graham Sadler presents his edition of two oft-overlooked motets by Jean-Phillipe Rameau. These motets (arrangements, probably by Rameau himself of choruses from Castor et Pollux and Les Indes gallants) were performed in thanks for the unexpected recovery from a life-threatening illness of Louis XV in 1744. The arrangements are for baritone, four-part choir and orchestra, and the edition received its premier performance by Vox Luminis (dir. Lionel Meunier) at Utrecht Early Music Festival in 2018. The YouTube performance can be seen here.
